The Mangalayatan University, Uttar Pradesh Act established the university and granted it the authority to issue degrees in accordance with sections (2f) and 22(1) of the UGC Act. The Uttar Pradesh government announced the establishment of the university as Act No. 32 of 2006 through its October 30, 2006, Gazette No. 362/VII-V-1-1(Ka)-12/2006.
